About This Program

What is Sober Living?

Sober living is structured, substance-free housing for people who have completed primary treatment or are actively in outpatient care.

Most residents stay 30 to 90 days, though length of stay is flexible based on how recovery is progressing. Houses are gender-separated to keep the focus on recovery, with daily structure, peer accountability, and house rules everyone follows. It fits as a companion to IOP or PHP rather than a replacement for clinical treatment.

Sober living serves as a bridge between residential discharge and independent living. Random drug testing, required meeting attendance, set wake times, and household responsibilities are built into the daily rhythm. The goal is simple: give people a stable place to practice the habits of sobriety before going fully on their own.

Program Goals

What Sober Living Helps You Build

Build Daily Structure

Set wake times, meeting attendance, work or school, and household responsibilities. The daily rhythm of recovery becomes habit instead of effort.

Prove Independence

Take on increasing autonomy as recovery solidifies. Manage your own schedule, your own finances, and your own time inside a supportive structure.

Bridge to Long-Term Recovery

Lock in sustainable habits and a sober support network before going fully on your own. Sober living is a place to get steady before the next step.

Why Choose Our Sober Living

Advantages of Sober Living at Positive Recovery

Stable Environment

A substance-free home with house rules everyone follows. Nothing comes through the door that could pull you off track during a hard week.

Peer Accountability

Living with others walking the same path builds the muscle of accountability. People notice when you slip, and they notice when you grow.

Structured Routine

Set wake times, meeting requirements, and household duties. That daily structure gives new habits something to get built on.

Gender-Separated

Single-gender houses keep the focus on recovery instead of relationships. Fewer distractions, more honest conversations in the living room.

Affordable

Significantly less expensive than residential treatment, often covered by family contribution or savings from returning to work.

Pairs With Outpatient

Most residents attend IOP or PHP during the day and return to the house at night. Clinical care plus stable housing, all in one continuum.

Paying for Sober Living

How to Cover the Cost

Insurance and Outpatient Coverage

Insurance typically does not pay for sober living rent directly. What insurance does cover is the IOP or PHP many residents attend during the day, which means total out-of-pocket cost is often a fraction of residential treatment.

  • IOP and PHP costs typically covered by Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, and most major carriers.
  • Confidential benefits check in under 60 seconds.
  • Combined cost (housing + outpatient) is usually well below residential pricing.
  • Our admissions team explains the full picture before you commit.

  • Furnished homes with WiFi, television, and washer and dryer on-site.
  • Full community kitchen; residents provide their own meals and personal items.
  • Flexible length of stay (typical range 30 to 90 days, longer if needed).
