Sous Chef – Spicewood/Hill Country

Positive Recovery currently has 15 locations statewide and was recognized as one of the top places to work by the Houston Business Journal in 2021. We are presently seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Sous Chef for our state licensed and Joint Commission certified treatment center.

Position Description:

The Sous Chef assists the Chef in preparing and serving nourishing meals to clients in our substance abuse treatment facility, while adhering to dietary needs to support overall recovery goals.

Job Location: Spicewood/Hill Country

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and serves daily meals within established menu parameters.
  • Washes dishes, pots, pans, and utensils as required.
  • Maintains kitchen sanitation, including sweeping and mopping of floors during each shift.
  • Maintains a “clean as you go” policy within work areas.
  • Adheres to all Positive Recovery policies and procedures, as well as all state and accreditation standards.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings and required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel setting or other commercial setting.
  • Current and valid food manager’s certification from local health department.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in Healthcare Food Services preferred.
  • Proficient using general computer skills.

Program Counselor – Spicewood/Hill Country

Position Description:
The focus of this role is to provide optimum direct clinical services to clients and their families in a safe, comfortable, and substance-free environment. The Program Counselor will assist in the development of tools and strategies for ongoing recovery that promote group healing and understanding among addicted individuals and their loved ones.

Job Locations: Spicewood/Hill Country

Essential Functions:

  • Provides individual, family, group, and crisis counseling including educational services to clients and their families.
  • Manages an individual caseload of residential clients and conducts screening evaluations of new cases to determine treatment level and intervention needs.
  • Maintains comprehensive clinical documentation for all clients meeting company and regulatory standards.
  • Interfaces with referral sources providing information and maintains professional relationships with human services agencies, support groups, and other staff.
  • Assists the Utilization Review Specialist by assuring that clinical records contain comprehensive information needed to communicate with managed care companies for authorization of treatment.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings, required training, and serves on various organizational teams and committees.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the therapeutic techniques and program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with Medical Director, President, and Executive Director to keep all informed of current departmental activities, plans, and developments through both oral and written reports.
  • Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a manner that assists the team in achieving positive results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of direct clinical care experience.
  • Licensed LCDC, LPC, LCSW, or LCDC-I (level III).
  • Desire to work with clients suffering from the disease of addiction.
  • Prefer experience with a 12-step program.

Recovery Advocate – Garden Oaks

Position Description:

The Recovery Advocate is a member of the multidisciplinary team who is directly involved in providing quality care to our clients. This critical role is key not only to the operational flow of the facility but to making a difference in the lives of our clients. The RA is responsible for providing structure for our clients during programming, after hours, and during weekend activities.

Job Locations: Spicewood/Hill Country and Garden Oaks

Essential Functions:

  • Documents client and group dynamic observations in medical records and communicates client issues and concerns to the nursing, clinical, and administrative staff.
  • Serves as a role model to the clients, demonstrating an understanding of the fundamentals of a balanced recovery program.
  • Coordinates client care and ensures that clients are in groups and aware of and in line with facility expectations.
  • Coordinates admissions and orientations with the nursing staff to ensure the safety of the client and the client environment.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed.
  • Understands and maintains confidentiality of patient information and records.
  • Recognizes crisis situations and provides appropriate interventions based on training and experience.
  • Escorts clients for meals, off-site appointments, or other related client activities.
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates CD Educational groups.
  • Monitors and documents client self-administration of medication.
  • Attends monthly meetings and scheduled training.

The focus of this role is to ensure excellence in the daily operations of the nursing department by promoting quality of care to clients through assessment, medication management, and direct client oversight.

Job Location: Spicewood/Hill Country

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers optimum care through assessment, monitoring, and communication of observations and findings with physicians and other members of the treatment team.
  • Coordinates admissions with Admissions Department and obtains admission orders from physicians.
  • Promotes restoration of health, client and family education, and serves as a client advocate.
  • Maintains and adheres to established infection control/employee health program while ensuring compliance with all Positive Recovery policies and procedures, as well as all state and accreditation standards.
  • Coordinates with Medical Director, President, and Executive Director to keep all informed of current departmental activities, plans, and developments through both oral and written reports.
  • Functions as a “house supervisor” in absence of other supervisory staff.
  • Monitors client self-administration of medication.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provides detox assessments, history and physical reports, and develops detox treatment plans.
  • Coordinates emergency medical care for medical and psychiatric emergencies.
  • Ensures that documentation on all clients meets company and regulatory standards.
  • Leads CD and health education groups, and coordinates medical appointments, lab work with venipuncture, and referrals.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings, required training, and serves on various organizational teams and committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Licensed LVN, RN or BSN

Nurse Manager – Houston

We are presently seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate Nurse Manager to join our management team for our state licensed and Joint Commission certified treatment centers. The ideal candidate would office in our Houston or Spicewood, TX locations with an expectation of travel within the state. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The purpose of this position is to ensure excellence within the daily operations of the Positive Recovery Centers’ Nursing Department by promoting quality of care to clients through assessment, medication management, and direct client oversight.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans and monitors the delivery of quality patient care by the Registered Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Oversees quality patient care by the Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Recovery Advocates.
  • Supervises daily operations of all nursing functions.
  • Coordinates with the Executive Director to establish protocols and develop best practices.
  • Implements and educates established protocols and best practices to nursing.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates staff training and development to maintain quality of care consistent with or exceeding industry standards. Oversees the Infection Control /Employee Health Program within facility specific regions.
  • Communicates with the Executive Director to keep informed of current department activities, plans and developments through both oral and written reports.
  • Monitors and assures the facility’s compliance with applicable standards, regulation and laws.
  • Hires, trains and develops assigned staff. Partners with Human Resources to maintain consistency as it relates to company policy.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for staff, including goal setting and counseling where appropriate.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with staff to communicate issues regarding procedures, processes and overall departmental performance.
  • Coordinates groups led by nursing staff weekly for Chemical Dependency Education.
  • Leads CD Education Groups.
  • Maintains medical and pharmaceutical supplies at established par levels to ensure promotion of cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling and payroll.
  • Ensures monthly staff meetings occur in nursing department
  • Serves on various organizational teams/committees and acts as a consultant to other departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience with supervisory experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse or Certified Addiction Nurse (preferred) in the State of Texas
  • Experience with a 12-step program preferred
  • Proficient using general computer skills and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
