Inpatient Care

There are many different types of addiction treatment programs out there, but two of the most common types are inpatient treatment programs and outpatient treatment programs. While both provide essential care for recovery from addiction, each type of program has distinct qualities and benefits for people in various stages of recovery. Positive Recovery Center will soon be offering inpatient treatment in addition to outpatient treatment options.

What is Inpatient Treatment for Addiction?

Inpatient treatment provides medical and psychiatric care for addiction recovery in a safe and structured environment. Clients stay at the facility for the duration of the program and upon completion, staff members assist clients as they transition into the next phase of their treatment.

Inpatient Treatment vs. Outpatient Treatment for Addiction

There are a few key differences between inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment for addiction.

Inpatient Treatment

  • Clients stay at the facility throughout the treatment
  • Clients are removed from “everyday life” to complete treatment and do not have access to drugs or alcohol
  • Clients receive 24/7 medical and clinical care
  • Treatment can take anywhere from 30 days to six months to complete

Outpatient Treatment

  • Clients attend outpatient treatment sessions
  • Clients continue working, going to school, caring for children, etc. while in treatment
  • Clients have some access to medical and clinical care, but it’s not round-the-clock
  • Treatment general requires a commitment of 10-20 hours each week for several months

Types of Inpatient Treatment Offered at Positive Recovery Centers

At Positive Recovery Centers, our inpatient treatment programs include:

It’s not uncommon for our clients to begin their sobriety journey in detox and advance through several different stages of treatment, including residential rehab, IOP, and aftercare before they transition to a completely independent sober life. Statistics prove the longer a person is engaged in treatment at any level, the better chance they have for success in long-term sobriety.

Many people find that completing several different episodes of treatment gives them the time they need to heal physically and emotionally as well as the tools to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.

Is Inpatient Treatment Right For Me?

Inpatient treatment may be right for you if:

  • You are physically addicted to drugs or alcohol and need help detoxing
  • Your treatment team has recommended that you continue your treatment with residential care
  • You do not have a stable and sober home environment that is supportive of your recovery
  • You suffer from co-occurring disorders like anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.
  • You completed a treatment program in the past but did not stay sober

Choosing the right type of treatment is key to long-term success in recovery, but you don’t have to do it alone. The staff at Positive Recovery Centers can help you determine if inpatient treatment is right for you based on your medical needs and ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) treatment criteria, or we can explore alternative options to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Our inpatient addiction treatment starts with compassion and connection to break down personal barriers and teach clients how to live happy, healthy, and sober lives. With a focus on positive change and the practical steps to get there, we make sure our clients receive the education, counseling, and life skills required to flourish in recovery.
