Dr. Jason Z. W. Powers is certified by the American Boards of Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine, and graduated with a master’s in applied positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in August of 2013. He specializes in treating addiction and was among the first group of doctors certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the highest credentialing board in the country. Dr. Powers is also one of the only physicians who does interventions.
He serves as the regional chief medical officer for the Elements Behavioral Health Texas branch with over 20 drug and alcohol treatment facilities throughout Texas. He is passionate about treating addiction in all its aspects, and has a unique perspective because he is also an addict in recovery. Since entering the field of addiction medicine, he has embraced nearly every aspect of the field, and has readily been in demand as a national speaker and expert for various local and national media outlets. He also manages an addiction medicine practice, works as an interventionist, and is the author of “When The Servant Becomes The Master” (2012), published by Central Recovery Press, and Positive Recovery®.
Dr. Powers was voted as one of Houston’s Top Doctors for five years by H Texas magazine. In 2008, he was awarded the Compassion Award by Sierra Tucson.
